Banker White & Anna Fitch
Anna & Banker are multidisciplinary artists and award-winning filmmakers. Their work has been supported by the Sundance Documentary Fund, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, Creative Capital, MacArthur Foundation, the Tribeca Film Institute, Impact Partners, ITVS, DocSociety, the Catapult Film Fund, The Fledgling Fund, LEF, the California Council for Humanities and the Pacific Pioneer Fund, among others. Their films have been broadcast on HBO, Netflix, PBS, National Geographic Channel, BBC, and Channel4 UK; have screened at festivals and theatrically worldwide, and have won multiple awards, including an Emmy.
Anna and Banker are currently in post-production on their multiplatform project Heaven Through the Backdoor. They co-directed and produced the Emmy and Peabody award nominated “Survivors" (POV/PBS 2018) together with filmmakers at the WeOwnTV Freetown Media Center, a filmmaking collective they co-founded based in Freetown, Sierra Leone; and the co-directed the film "The Genius of Marian" (Tribeca 2013 / POV 2014) - a visually rich, emotionally complex documentary about one family’s struggle to come to terms with the changes Alzheimer’s disease brings.
In 2010, we also launched the WeOwnTV initiative, a collaborative media project that promotes self-expression and supports filmmakers and artists through media education, mentorship and direct grants to West African Filmmakers.
